"Making it easier for more women to get involved in hunting and the shooting sports is a priority for NRA," said Mary Sue Faulkner, Director of NRA's Community Service Programs Division. "Women On Target is a key part of that effort --- and at the rate some of these hunts sell out, it is clear that women are eager for hunting opportunities."

Since the program's launch in late 1999, women of all experience levels have been invited to take part. Hunts are chosen after careful screening of outfitters, and a range of destinations and cost levels are offered. For 2006 and early 2007, Women On Target will travel to new and exciting hunting destinations, as well as returning to the sites of some of its most popular hunts. New hunts for whitetail deer in South Carolina and deer, hog, coyote, and bobcat in Alabama will join already popular pheasant, wild boar, and antelope hunts from California to Tennessee.

Sandy Cook of Bronston, KY, has participated in several Women On Target hunts. "When I first started hunting and went on my first Women On Target hunt, everyone was so helpful and made me feel very comfortable. As I gained experience, these hunts continued to offer me new challenges. Everyone, from beginners to experienced hunters, has such a great time that I have recommended Women On Target hunts to many other women," she said.
